Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the Indian multinational conglomerate, has won a significant batch of orders in the power transmission and distribution sector in Saudi Arabia, marking a strategic expansion in the Middle East market. The orders are part of Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP), aimed at upgrading the nation’s electricity grid to support a rapid increase in renewable energy projects.

The large orders include the construction of a sophisticated 380/33 kV Gas Insulated Substation featuring hybrid GIS elements, 380 kV transformers and reactors, as well as essential subsystems for power system protection, control, automation, telecommunication, HVAC, and firefighting systems. In addition, L&T will undertake the construction of 380 kV Overhead Transmission Links spanning over 420 kilometers, significantly enhancing the grid infrastructure.
This project underscores L&T’s leadership and expertise in executing complex EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects across geographies. With a strong focus on quality and customer-oriented solutions, L&T continues to drive forward key power infrastructure projects vital for the energy transition in emerging markets.
As the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia advances its renewable energy goals, the robust transmission lines and substations provided by L&T will form the backbone of a more resilient and efficient electricity network, facilitating large-scale integration of clean energy sources.
L&T, valued at USD 30 billion, leverages eight decades of experience in EPC projects, high-tech manufacturing, and services. This latest order further enhances its global footprint and bolsters domestic capabilities through international projects of strategic importance.
